Thank you Alicia, hope your hometown visit is wonderful. Those are the times that we remember the most - the conversations with wise people and laughing with family we don't see often. It's so so special. Yes so! I just read the diary of Bergman and the lack of plot was a bit too distracting for me. I usually love reading diaries but the entries were too fragmented and short for me to fully immerse myself in the book. I actually think that reading the journals of authors in the target language is really valuable because journal entries mimic our thinking / monologue voice and that can help the reader or learner with absorbing the patterns and rhythms of sentence structure in that language. Also, journals give good information about culture too! The diary I read made references to Stockholm where Bergman lived which was interesting and a fun way to learn about Swedish culture. I love a diary or a journal format as a book, fiction or not. Maybe I will add to the next issue a list of diary-book recs!
