Mind Blowing: Live Chat Rooms For Every Website
Hi there,
I've found another extension in these last two weeks and it has absolutely blown me away.
Relay
As you've read in the title, this extension adds a small live chat widget to every website. Clicking on it will expand a chat room in which you can talk to anyone else who was the extension installed and is on the website.
Is it actually fun or useful?
Yesn't. It is really fun and will completely change your experience browsing the web. It absolutely blows my mind how someone could come up with such an amazing idea.
It also promises a lot of ways this could be used:
- Asking people for their opinion on a product before buying it
- Getting quick help when you're stuck with something
- Meeting random people on the internet
- Killing time (I could see me spending hours just browsing the internet to find other people just browsing the internet and chatting about just browsing the internet)
- find deals on Amazon and Ebay;
- get live help on Stack Overflow;
- chat with visitors on your own sites;
- watch and chat about shows together on Netflix;
- solicit career advice on LinkedIn;
- chat with other developers on localhost;
- instantly connect in online classrooms;
- chat about your favorite football team on nfl.com or goal.com;
- leave your mark on Google;
It also already has some basic features that make the chat experience enjoyable:
- You can continue your conversations with people in private
- You can mention people to reply to them.
See, here's the deal: While writing this there were 300 people currently active on Relay, which is pretty good with an extension with 2700 installs. Still, on a lot of websites, you'll currently be the first one writing.
If you want to have fun, you'll need to be on big websites like Google, where you'll definetly find at least a handful of other active users.
Conclusion
If I would have to pick one extension of the ones I highlighted on this newsletter, I would pick this one.
This is a new idea, which promises a lot, and will absolutely change the way you browse the internet.
