Announcing the TIL Section on My Homepage
Hello friend,
this is gonna be a quick one, because what I’m announcing already has a navel-gazing nature.
Over the years the bar that I perceive about posting on my blog has only gone up. My latest post on subclassing (that despite its length and topic was very well-received – thank you for sharing!) and this newsletter made the problem even more pronounced.
Therefore, to be able to share stuff with less friction, I’ve just announced a “Today I Learned” section on my blog:
To encourage myself to write often, it has an own RSS feed and the posts won’t make a newsletter, of course. I may append summaries to them tho – we’ll see!
Before launching, I’ve already posted three TIL articles, so make sure to check them out! Ironically the one on local virtualenvs could easily pass for a blog post. I guess one more thing to agonize over. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Observant readers will also notice that I’ve published my first piece of Go content. Something I was too self-conscious until now, because I don’t feel competent/established enough yet. Maybe the new section will help me grow here too.
In more personal news I’m grateful to be fully vaccinated and I’m leaving for a vacation next week – the first since September 2020! Don’t expect much output in that time and wish me luck that COVID won’t make stuff complicated. Corsica ahoy!
COVID-permitting I will also speak at the first real-world (outdoor) meetup since Moscow in November 2019! I don’t think it was officially announced yet, but if you live close to Amersfoort or Utrecht, keep your calendar free on October 5th!
That’s all for today, feel free to hit reply and let me know what you think of the new format! It is an experiment and I’m curious how others think about it.
Best,
—h
