Hey y’all!
I’m Hugh Hollowell. I’m a writer, a pastor, and a community organizer, and this is my newsletter.
What is this about?
Over a long career, I’ve worked in some pretty bleak places. Early on, I learned that when you are surrounded by horrors, you need to immerse yourself in beauty as a way to fight it.
So almost a decade ago, I started hunting for things I thought were beautiful, and then sending it to a short list of folks. That list grew, and now, it goes out to thousands of folks in five countries.
What should I expect?
Each week - usually Monday -I send out a short essay, talking about where I found beauty this week, along with links to five things I came across that struck me as beautiful, along with other things I want to share with you. I sometimes make announcements here, too.
I don’t need another email.
I get it. But honestly, I’m going to write it whether you subscribe or not. Because while I send it to you, I write it for me. Because the world is filled with beauty, but sometimes, it’s hard to find.
What does this cost?
Nothing. Nada. Zilch. No ads, either. And no spam or sponsorships.
This is all paid for by a team of members, who support this work via monthly patronage. If you end up liking what I do, you can join them. Or not. This newsletter is, and always will be, both free and ad-free.
