The fire that affected Powell House at our Juja Farm Campus brought an unexpected season of loss and uncertainty. Yet, in the midst of what was lost, we have witnessed something beautiful — resilience, community, and an outpouring of love.

The children of Powell House, whose home was among the areas affected by the fire, have been walking through this season with remarkable courage. Thanks to the generosity of our friends and partners, the children were recently able to go shopping for new clothes and shoes to replace some of what they lost.

What may seem like simple necessities became something much greater for the children. It was a chance to choose new clothes, pick out shoes, laugh together, and simply enjoy being children again. For a moment, the weight of the loss seemed a little lighter.

During lunch, the children expressed their joy and gratitude, and their smiles reminded us of the incredible impact of simply showing up for someone in a difficult season.

To every friend and partner who has stood with us — thank you. The Lord has provided more than we could ask for or think to ask Him for from you, our faithful partners, in funding the repairs- in fact , we now have the funds to complete the work! The restoration is well on its way and the spirits of the children and staff have been lifted, as they see the progress. All of us at Happy Life Mission are very encouraged by your generosity.

Your generosity has reminded our children that even when difficult things happen, they are not alone. They are loved, cared for, and surrounded by a community willing to walk with them through the rebuilding process.

Any donations received above what is needed for the fire-related repairs will be put toward the Education Fund for the children in high school, vocational school, and college or university.

Back to School, Back to Routine

We are also grateful to God for the successful beginning of the third and final term of the school year. After the disruption brought by the fire, seeing our children return to school, reunite with their classmates, and settle back into their routines has been a great encouragement.

There is still much to rebuild, but life continues — and so does the work of nurturing, educating, and preparing our children for their futures.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating! 🎓

Perhaps one of our greatest celebrations in this season comes from two young men who have grown through the Happy Life family: twins Dominic and Peter.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Dominic and Peter are joining university! They are the first university entrants among the children currently living at Happy Life Mission, making this a particularly significant milestone for all of us.

Peter Asuma will be joining Karatina University to pursue Business, while his twin brother, Dominic Barongo, will be joining Multimedia University to study Industrial Chemistry.

From growing up at Happy Life to taking their first steps into university, their journey is a beautiful testimony of what God can do through years of care, education, guidance, and the faithful support of a community.

Their achievement gives us another reason to keep moving forward.

Even amidst the ashes, there are new beginnings.
Even amidst loss, there is hope.
Even in difficult seasons, there is still so much to celebrate.

We continue to trust God for the restoration of all that was lost and remain grateful for every person who has chosen to stand with Happy Life Mission during this season.
