August slipped away etc.

Let's talk about August

Hello and welcome to life with Hannah.

Hi friends,

August was tough. I ignored everything I’ve every learnt from every summer of my life over the past 5 years and I filled almost every day with work and play. And inevitably, I hit a wall.

That said, August wasn’t without highlights. I released One Day on the 29th, which feels like a fresh chapter in the Hallworth journey.(Stream her here!) It’s been so great working with Tom on this new music, and I can’t wait for you to hear the rest of it.

I worked on 4 festivals, went to 1 festival and spent time in 5 different places. I camped, I stayed in surf lodges and holiday rentals and my favourite flat in Wales and I took no time to process anything that was happening in my life beyond work.

It’s so easy to fill your brain and your life up with work when you work in music and events. It’s so easy to feel like where you are at that moment is the centre of the universe. But this summer I really struggled worse than I have before to manage the long hours and the personal life balance. But retrospect makes you see the good parts. And there were good parts.

We started rehearsing with a new band, ready for our gig on the 27th (at The Finsbury, you should come), which I’m really excited about. I saw Taylor Swift twice. And now I’m home it’s hard to processes the highs of my life for most of the year with the moments at home for rest. It’s hard to see the rest as productive. But it needs to be, and I think that’s what September is about. Finding a new sense of balance, and self respect and care.

I’m excited to start rehearsing and writing and finishing music again. I’m hopeful that One Day will get the love I think it deserves.

I will speak to you all again next month, when hopefully there is more to share with you.

Lots of love,

Hannah
