Ridiculous Opinions #88

It’s been a busy few days. My oldest daughter is flying in tomorrow and we can celebrate her arrival by locking her in her room for two weeks while she does her mandatory quarantine for the UAE. Could be worse, though, as I am under the impression that the US of A is a free-for-all in terms of coronavirus stuff. It has finally reached the point where I actually know people who have both had/died from covid and that’s a sad state of affairs. Hopefully, a new, sane president will change things come January 20th. However, the current Trump administration seems to be a group of rats fleeing a sinking ship as their fearless leader leads them down a path of self-destructive self-interest.
It’s an interesting phenomenon with me. I know ZERO Trump supporters. Not a single one. Or, if I DO know a Trump supporter, they certainly hide their faces like the weasels they are. Even my Oklahoma relatives that I speak to (meaning my immediate family) are hardcore Democrats, which makes me proud. I have a legitimately hard time understanding how anyone could be a conservative in this day and age, considering the current state of affairs in the United States. The current party is a group of old, white men who are hellbent on destroying the norms of the country in order to make gains for/preserve power for…well…white people.
I have always said that the people who really should be leading the country were smart enough to realize that there was no money to be made in public service, so they went on to become doctors and lawyers and tech CEOs and what not. The problem with that is that it left a bunch of asshats in Washington. I mean, think about all of the student council presidents you saw in your lifetime in middle and high school. Are those the types of people you want running the country? The best candidates usually lost. It’s a sad state of affairs.
