Ridiculous Opinions #77

Oh, hooray! Today is the day that I got my ballot to vote in the US presidential election! So, you know what I’m going to do today? I’m going to VOTE! Hallelujah! And hopefully, we’ll be able to get those corrupt bastards out of office there. So, if you are a US citizen and you are eligible to vote, then I would highly advise you getting off your duff, get registered, and vote in this upcoming election. I hate to be this way, but it’s true that our future depends on it.
Not a lot to say today, because I’m tired, so here’s an update:
Movie - When I have time, I edit. I think I finally have color grading down now, so I am slowly going through the scenes and color grading them. That is hard. I am also composing my own music for the film. Recorded voiceovers this week and tweaked a few things. Making a film by yourself is difficult.
Book - I officially started writing the Cindy McCloyd book two days ago, but got distracted yesterday and couldn’t continue. That will not happen often. Hopefully, I will finish by Christmas.
Cartoons - Maurice is still chugging along. If you’re not following his adventures on Instagram, you’re truly an idiot.
Promo - I’m going to publish the new Boyd McCloyd book very soon for the holiday season. You are expected to help me promote it.
In regard to my movie, I’m debating trying to acquire the rights to a song by a band called Middle Kids to use in the film. The problem is that it is expensive. I may ask everyone on this list to chip in five bucks, because if you all do, I can have enough to purchase the rights. I’M SERIOUS. I’ll give you credit in the movie. Actually, what I might do is give you the option to either give me five bucks, or buy a copy of the new Boyd McCloyd book, which means you’ll get something out of the deal.
Then again, I might not do any of that. Why? Because I’m lazy.
MEDIA DIET
It’s odd to say, but it really feels like we’re running out of things to watch. Or at least, I am (except for Ted Lasso, which has a new episode today!). Here’s a few things to keep an eye on for the fall.
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
If you haven’t seen “Five Easy Pieces”, then you should. It’s easily one of my all-time favorite films (probably 6th in the top ten). It’s fifty years old this year and worth a revisit. Jack Nicholson at his finest (before he became a parody of himself) and a really interesting story. Plus, for some reason, I really, really, really connected with his character when I saw it at the age of 20. I don’t know what that says about me, but it’s obviously something. So, if you want to know me a little bit better and see a heck of a performance, then see this flick! Or you could just read about it.
TO BE SORTED
So, in the Velocipedia, an artist asked his friends to draw a bicycle from memory. Most of us won’t really realize how hard it is to draw a bike from memory until you actually do it. This artist then made a 3D model of the bikes that these people drew. Some of them look kind of dangerous.
OPEN TABS
I don’t care what they say. I believe it.
