Ridiculous Opinions #261

In which the author muses about things on a sleepy Saturday morning…
Not sure what to do with myself this morning. Should I go for a swim? Maybe. But there’s usually a lot of kids in the pool. Then again, mornings usually bring the young kids, so that means they won’t be able to swim in the deep end. That’s a lot of work. No, thanks.
I could go see a movie. But there are no movies out there that I want to see. I thought about seeing Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, but I don’t know if I want to sit in a theater for that. So much effort.
Maybe I should go buy some furniture for our patio. But that would involve getting someone to haul away the junk that we currently have on the patio. That could delay the entire endeavor!
I should probably just sit and read a book today. But the minute I start reading, I fall asleep. Comic books are shorter. Maybe I should read some comics. But I would have to put them on my iPad and that just seems like a pain.
Drawing might not be a bad idea. I could sit and draw on my iPad today. The only problem with that is that after a little bit, I start to hate my drawings and want to throw my iPad across the room.
I know! I’ll do some 3D modeling. But I don’t know how, really. I mean, I’ve got the basics, but that sure seems like it could get boring, especially considering I’d have to watch some stupid videos that teach me how to do it. Those people who make those videos are annoying. I will not hit “like” and smash your subscribe button.
What about going for a walk? Too late. The sun is up and it’s already 33 degrees. I’d be drenched by the time I walked around the block.
Ah, easy. I could watch a movie at home. That would be great. But there are three people in this house and none of us can agree on a movie to watch. Why don’t they like The ‘Burbs?
I could spend the afternoon making food. I’ve got a good bread recipe. That would be great! Oh, wait…cooking stresses me out. Can’t do that.
What about rearranging the furniture in the house? I could move the TV to the exact opposite side of the living room. Then, it would feel like an entirely new place! Yeah, but all the cables are wired in where they’re at. I’d have to do some real thinking about how I’d want to arrange everything. Plus, the other members of the house get upset when I move things around.
I could make a movie today. Just a documentary on where I’m at. I could drive around and show the sites. Maybe interview a few people. Too much work.
I could go down to Electra Street and look in all of the funky shops down there. Nope.
Brunch? Nah.
Lunch? Uh-uh.
Call a friend? What friend?
Lift weights? Ha.
This place is so boring.

Randy,
Good to hear I’m not the only one bored. Considering your newsletter this week, it sounds like you could use a visitor. Mac and I are coming to Abu Dhabi on October 4 to see the Nuggets and the Celtics play at Etihad Arena. We could meet up with you before the game if you’d like? I think we arrive around 1.
I’d love to catch up with you. Otherwise, maybe Alisa and I could visit one weekend. Whizz Air flys directly to you and is super cheap.
Cheers!
