Ridiculous Opinions #179

What a year it’s been…
The new year has always been a symbolic “new beginning” for most people, and I count myself as one of them. Though there is no discernible reason that January 1st is considered a new year (at least from a solstice perspective), it is still the time of year that people view as a turning point. Of course, that turning point is one that leads to the vast, seemingly neverending wasteland that is January and February (shudder), so maybe it’s not so great. Perhaps we should change the new year to April, or at least a time when things start to become green again so that there’s a sense of renewal to the year. Then again, no one asked me.
So, where do we find ourselves in this new year?
