Ridiculous Opinions #178

It’s Christmas Eve here in the Girdner/Ramsey household and I am sitting in a quiet house with two cats sleeping near me. Everyone else is sacked out because we have now adjusted to the winter holiday routine of sleeping late and being lazy.
Every year, we are on the lookout for some good, holiday movies that we can watch together as a family. For many years, it was the Lord of the Rings extended edition. We would buckle in for a 12 hour extravaganza and we did this traditionally for many years. Unfortunately, the pandemic kind of ruined that one, because a couple of years ago, we watched it too soon, and thus, our appetite for the length of the films diminished. (Though Abbey is dutifully trying, pulling Tracey and Harper along with her in her attempt to watch them).
Last year, we watched “The Beatles: Get Back” without Harper here. That’s another good 9-10 hours of movie watching. We thought, this year, that we would bring Harper along and celebrate the holidays. We are almost done with that one as well. It’s one of our favorites, but there is a section in the middle film with the band goofing around while recording and it always makes me think that I would have gotten in a fight with John Lennon if he was in my band, because he seemed to have some attention problems and his constant joking while recording would have made me punch him in his stupid face.
