Ridiculous Opinions #123

I always think of this song when the end of summer rolls around. It was written by the legendary Mike Campbell and the douchy Don Henley. Because Don Henley is a douche, you can’t find the original song and video online, so I thought I would link to a cool version of the song by Bat for Lashes.
I first heard this song in 1984, because MTV played it all the time. You see, MTV was a big thing in my hometown of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Shall I explain? Of course I will.
Back when MTV was starting out, it was something new and unusual, and people weren’t sure if it was something that was going to take off or not. Thus, the network couldn’t get into larger cable markets like New York City and Los Angeles. Thus, the executives at MTV had a strategy that they would go to as many small markets as possible to get their network on the air. And the smallest market they went to was Tahlequah Cable Television (which is still in business, to this day). So, if not from Day One, we at least had MTV from Week One. I can’t even begin to tell you what a life changing experience this was for me.
