Ridiculous Opinions #117

So, I’m winding down my trip to Oklahoma. I have seen quite a few people while I was here and had a good opportunity to reflect on the life I once led in this small town. It’s been an interesting journey and I’ve learned a few things while I was here.
I believe that, fundamentally, we remain the same person for most of our lives. That’s not to say that we don’t change; we do. In fact, we change quite a bit.
But who we are doesn’t change. Some of that stuff is hard-wired into our DNA, so it just won’t change in general. I have a bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder. That isn’t going to change. I like things orderly. I like creating lists. I like getting things done. I like drawing meticulous pictures and seeing details. All of that stuff is part of what makes me who I am. It’s genetic. I can ignore these things or try to change them, but I can’t really. I have been who I am practically since birth.
