Ridiculous Opinions #102

I’ve been reading a lot of articles recently about this thing called “Covid Brain”, where people are lamenting the fact that they’re forgetting a lot of things. They’re absentmindedly wandering around the house with a purpose that they can’t remember.
It’s happened to me. Names are disappearing. Recollections of the past are fading away. I think that I have posted the same articles more than once here in this newsletter, which is throwing me off a bit. In fact, it’s worrisome.
The other day, I saw a student walking across campus, and even though I had taught that girl for a semester, I couldn’t for the life of me remember her name. I still can’t. She’s a mystery; someone who was in my class, but whose name has faded away, like when someone grabs your arm and you have a handprint on your skin.
