Welcome to Gory Details

Hi friends and family,

I just added you to this newsletter because I'm pretty sure you will want some form of regular update on my situation. Since you're already aware of the facts to one degree or another, I wrote a backstory post earlier today that you can read if you go to the Gory Details web archive, but if you don't need that amount of infodumping right now you can just expect this newsletter to cover the latest events going forward.

You can also share the newsletter with anyone else* you think would be interested in following along -- I definitely did not try to round up all interested parties in the first pass (communications being a tiring project at this point). Or you can unsubscribe if it's too much: no pressure to read it if you'd rather not know all the gory details.

Well, I probably won't actually try to gross anyone out. I'll put upsetting photos, if I happen to have any, behind a link with a warning. But the text content may be upsetting as well, and that can hardly be avoided. I think I will try to tag updates as #gory (potentially upsetting, particularly graphic content) or #details (lots of medical info/technical/factual focus) so you can self-select what you are ready to read. But I may forget or mischaracterize things, so this whole thing is a grand general content warning -- I will not be self-censoring here, this will not be work-appropriate, etc etc.

Now back to gardening.

Close-up of multicolored wildflowers in a garden*Anyone within reason: I have a limit on subscriptions before I have to start paying for buttondown. Anyone can read from the site or with RSS for free, but if I get too many email subscribers then I'll have to lock it down. So maybe don't post this all over the socials, just share the link directly if someone is interested.
