Post-op update from Luke

Hi there! Rosemary's not currently feeling like writing emails, so it's my happy duty to tell you that her surgery went according to plan.

Once she actually got onto the slab, that is. Apparently the patient just before her decided almost last-minute to get a mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy, so Rosemary's operation was delayed by a couple hours. That's fine, of course, but if you know Rosemary, you know she won't stand for having her meals delayed. She'd already been fasting since 5am (having scarfed a granola bar at 4:50am), and the hunger gave her such a headache that a very understanding nurse gave her an IV of delaudid! I was quite envious; my only experience with it had been at my appendectomy in 2017, whereupon I had declared it the most delicious drug my veins had ever tasted. Seriously amazing stuff, though Rosemary didn't take quite so naturally to it as I did. Er, where was I...

No details of the actual operation to report, because I wasn't there, and Rosemary wasn't awake. She did make good on her plan to ask Dr. Chu about the relative smelliness of various surgeries (answers: boob surgeries don't have much of a smell; bowel surgeries are the worst). We won't know much else until the tumor has been finely minced and put through diverse arcane processes.

I picked Rosemary up about half an hour ago—special thanks to Mike and MaryAnn for lending us their minivan—and we immediately went to Taco Bell. We're both relaxing in the living room now, looking forward to resuming normal meals tomorrow.

Many thanks also to Nick and Pete for keeping me company today.

I reckon that's about it.

Hoping you're all well,

Luke
