Good Works Columbus: May 4th, 2026

Hi friends, welcome to Good Works Columbus, glad to have you here!

Things you can do in person

  • Volunteer with Our City Our Say
Our City Our Say is collecting 25,000 signatures by July to get our simple fix on the ballot – true district elections for City Council by the people who live in that district.

May 5th is primary election day here in Ohio, and voters all over Columbus will be heading to the polls.

This is a GREAT opportunity to gather signatures to put our initiative on the November ballot, since everyone you'll be talking to will be a registered Columbus voter.

Polls will be open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm; if you can help gather signatures during those hours, please submit this form, and we'll be in touch!

  • Strong Like a Mother 5K
    Sunday, May 10th, 8AM - Wolfe Park

Lace up for something bigger than the finish line; help provide a critical lifeline to families experiencing a housing crisis.

Join Home for Families (HFF) for our inaugural Strong Like a Mother 5K, presented by Hexion, on the morning of Sunday, May 10 (Mother’s Day), at Wolfe Park in Columbus, and go the distance for moms and families facing severe housing instability. Nearly 90% of our households are led by women, two-thirds have been mothers, and most have been single mothers. So, whether you're running the 5K, participating in the timed 1K Family Fun Run, or enjoying a leisurely 1K walk, your support will help HFF go the extra mile to prevent homelessness for moms and their families.

  • Transit Columbus Meeting
    Tuesday, May 12th, 2026
    Columbus Main Library

For our May 2026 Meeting, COTA will be presenting their Short Range Transit Plan. This is a great opportunity to learn more about some big changes that COTA is proposing, ask questions, and give feedback about the changes that affect you.

After the presentation, we will break out into groups based on your neighborhood to take a closer look at the route changes in your area and give you an opportunity to discuss the changes with other folks who live in your area. Transit Columbus leadership and other members will be available to help answer any questions and think through the changes and how they might affect riders.

  • Columbus Tree Coalition Meeting
Join the Tree Coalition for its second quarterly meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus Metropolitan Library | Linden Branch (2223 Cleveland Ave, Columbus, OH 43211.)
