The 12th doesn’t really feel like “late” April, but that’s where we’re at I guess. Certainly, it’s a bit later in the day than usual but that’s down to my other organisational commitments, so if you’ve been waiting in agony for this email, blame that. Anyway!

Bootblack Social / Repairs at the Stand Workshop

Our next bootblack social is on Wednesday 15th April, at Adrian’s on Victoria Road (G42 8RW) from 7pm till late. The workshop will be focussing on repairs you can do at a bootblack stand. No experience necessary and no kit needed. If you do want a short tutorial on bootblacking basics, myself and Bootblack Rowan will be there with our kits to show you after the workshop, so just ask!

Lesbian Oil Wrestling

There will be LESBIAN OIL WRESTLING on Sunday 26th April, at the Queen’s Park Apple Orchard from 2pm onwards. This isn’t organised by us but is organised by our friends at the newly established Queer Fight Club Glasgow. Some of us will be there, so if you’ve ever wanted to fight a member of the admin team, this is your chance x.

May Bar Night

Our May bar night is on Wednesday 6th May, at Game Over on Drury Street (G2 5AA) from 7pm till 11:30pm(ish). Same deal as usual! Remember to bring cash for bootblacking tips but I can also take card payments now! (£5 for the basic stuff; £10 for more involved care.)

Becoming Archived

There is an event by the Lesbian Snapshot Collective at GWL that just seems cool as hell, so we’re pointing it out to y’all now. This will be on Saturday 9th May, at Glasgow Women’s Library (G40 1BP) from 2pm till 4pm. Tickets & info are here.

May Bootblack Social / Kit Development Workshop

Next one of these will be on Wednesday 20th May at the usual place and at the usual time. The focus for this one will be on developing your bootblacking kit.

Books of Blood Vol. 1–3, by Clive Barker (Milo)

“If you're into horror and you're into short stories then this is definitely for you. There's pig worship, rituals, dissolution of self, and of course lots of blood. Nothing very lesbian but otherwise excellent. Brought me the excellent quote “wherever we’re opened, we’re red” which is also fun to say aloud. I'm about to embark on vol. 4-6 and hope that is as enjoyable as the first half of the collection.”

As you might have seen on insta, Bootblack Rowan and I made it down to the London Leatherdykes social last week. We had a great time meeting some of our London counterparts. It’s on every second Thursday of the month at All My Gods in Bethnal Green, if ever you’re ever in the area.

Thanks to y’all also for the response to the Glasgow Leatherdykes Zine #1! We’ve raised some money for the Ms Bootblack Glasgow contest, and hopefully have given y’all some pornography/philosophy to chew on. These will continue to be available at our events, and we can even take card now! Or at least I can! Once we’ve gotten the zines guillotined properly, I’ll go round the local bookshops and post about where they’re at when that’s done – in case you haven’t been able to make it to a dyke night.
