Bar Night

Our April bar night is going to be Wednesday 1st April, at Game Over on Drury Street (G2 5AA) from 7pm till 11:30pm(ish). Same deal as usual! Remember to bring cash for bootblacking tips (£5 for the basic stuff; £10 for more involved care).

Bootblack Social / Repairs at the Stand Workshop

Our next bootblack social is on Wednesday 15th April, at Adrian’s on Victoria Road (G42 8RW) from 7pm till late. The workshop will be focussing on repairs you can do at a bootblack stand. No experience necessary and no kit needed. If you do want a short tutorial on bootblacking basics, myself and Bootblack Rowan will be there with our kits to show you after the workshop, so just ask!

Lesbian Oil Wrestling

There will be LESBIAN OIL WRESTLING on Sunday 26th April, at the Queen’s Park Apple Orchard from 2pm onwards. This isn’t organised by us but is organised by our friends at the newly established Queer Fight Club Glasgow. Some of us will be there, so if you’ve ever wanted to fight a member of the admin team, this is your chance x.

Becoming Archived

There is an event by the Lesbian Snapshot Collective at GWL that just seems cool as hell, so we’re pointing it out to y’all now. This will be on Saturday 9th May, at Glasgow Women’s Library (G40 1BP) from 2pm till 4pm. Tickets & info are here.

We’ve been up to not-a-lot these past two weeks! It’s mostly been finalising the zine and working out the logistics for Ms Bootblack Glasgow. Which, I guess that makes this as good a time as any to announce that we are doing a bootblacking competition. Dates not confirmed but expect it to take up a Friday evening and all of the following Saturday in October. There will be promo when this are a bit more set, but if you’re interested then come to a bootblack social for more details. This is much about community engagement as it is about technical bootblacking skill (probably more weighted towards community engagement, honestly), so don’t be frightened off if you think you’re not a good enough bootblack. And remember, you can show up early to the bar nights for a tutorial, and I’m always happy to share my kit with people who want to try it out on the stand – so just ask!

In some personal news, my own Untitled Leathersex Triptych has been picked up by One Handed Press. I should be getting some copies soon in case you missed it the first time round or otherwise want a more neatly bound version, but international shipping is international shipping so who knows when that’ll arrive. At any rate, if you’re in the USA, this should be available to order mid-April!
