Instead of mini-comics, how about a cartoon?

Hello !

A while back I was going to make little zines starring my Frank Bottom character, and spread them around the world. Life happened, and it did not. But! It has now turned into an animated mini-series which I started crowdfunding last week!

If you can contribute that would be awesome! If you can’t, that’s OK too! You can share the link to your socials to help spread and support the project. The whole thing is laid out there, so you can dig deeper into the story, characters, and production schedule there.

And just to prove I did actually start the mini-comic project, here’s the rough sketch of what was to be the first issue:

I never stopped thinking about the idea, but the horrors of the news creeped into my brain and made me too depressed to work on it. Plus the animation industry collapsed back in 2022, so I thought: screw it, I’ll make my own work! And that’s how the mini-comic became an indie mini-series.

A world on fire

You all know how the past few years have been… horrible. We’re accelerating through late-stage capitalism, and it is messy and violent and deadly. I won’t list everything; we all see them each day when we log into social media, even when we try to avoid them. Almost as though those networks were designed to feed us these horrors.

However, I will be addressing these themes in the cartoon itself, even though the show presents as goofy and absurd.

So I’m firing up this newsletter and I’ll be sending regular updates as the project progresses!

Take care of yourself

Stick together, keep each other safe. Fight back against fascism any way you can. Even small acts can have a huge impact. Talk to your neighbours. Get organized. If you’re already in a union, get more involved, join a committee. Build the community they are trying to destroy. And always: Look for the helpers.
