what is formyths doing

happy spring to fellow northern hemisphere people (or autumn to everyone else)! here's what i've been making.

art ✎

an illustration of a building rooftop garden at night, a person leaning on the low wall & staring over the ocean. a container of burning material is next to them, smoke drifting up past the moon.

catharsis

some process: (thumbnail, figuring out perspective + using reference to refine the sketch, lineart, rough pass at color) this was originally supposed to be a big ominous animal piece but that will have to be for another time.

very loose sketch of the previous illustration slightly more refined sketch
lineart on a grayscale background pass at rough colors, similar to the original illustration

(cw for a severed finger in the fourth image)

an upside down view of the sky, narrowing down to darkness below. text: "the unbearable blue of the sky." 2 pairs of panels below, with flames and a match. text: "your skin burns. stay warm." three panels showing close ups of vaguely organic forms, cells, and fluid. text: "feel for the tenderness." behind the panels, a lychee tree branch with a single fruit: split open, the flesh and pit hanging below. text: "split along the seams."
4 panels, the middle two showing crushed lychee peels. 1st & 4th panel text: "give yourself up in sacrifice, or maybe for spite." panels below show a disembodied hand reaching into a sharp-toothed mouth. a severed finger hangs above a panel with serpentine coils. text: "smile as the poison spreads." 4 panels showing flames reform into the iris of an eye. text underneath: "turn away."

sequence in half-remembered transmissions

more of a style test than anything. featuring my tried and true editing text down to something vague and/or ominous method of "having a lot of words and then realizing you do not have room for most of them."

a tiger curls around a person, tail covering half their face. their eye gleams red, and blood is on their claw-like fingers.

(you won't find me)

annual obligatory tiger piece. there will probably be more.

a person in dark clothing stands on a grassy shore, looking down in to the reflected image of a huge, three-legged crow with smoke pouring off its wings, a red sun above. a ghost sits reading in a folding chair perched on the overgrown roots of a tree, its shadow covering most of the golden grass around.

watching + summer reading

went back and edited some pieces from 2017 (wow) when i was afraid of saturation and also did not know how to use gradients. still like the concepts because they are (to me at least) clearly from when i actually had a lot of time to spend on stuff like this + no pressure to get jobs out of it...

other stuff ✷

wooper in a frame of hearts and sparkles, from new pokemon snap

nothing else really! i've been playing a lot of pokemon snap though. thanks for reading!
