A tiring few months but getting through…

art ✎

a drawing of 8 galloping horses, drawn with jagged outlines & stylized in various to mimic distance, printed in a bright red-orange and muted green

year of the fire horse - printed by Punch Kiss Press in fluorescent red and moss.

a riso print: on the left, a metal staircase rises behind the corner of a building against a gray-red sky. in the center, a narrow oval gleams, mirror-like. on the right, a constellation-pattern of rivets, and a person's shadow stretching up onto a wall.

20 / 26-03 / transient

No closer, no farther. March's riso print, in 4 colors (yellow, raspberry, risofederal blue, black). More info about monthly prints @ patreon.com/formyths.

fanart of the nausicaa manga: small inset panels of fires raging, the fungal forest, and the white glider in a blue sky, over a background of columns of petrified fungi, slowly collapsing into still water and darkness.

Finished reading the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga earlier this year and unsurprisingly liked it a lot… some extremely rare fanart from me.

8×10in
4 color risograph print (cornflower, bright olive green, bright red, hunter green)

a zine cover, "Waiting" by A Liang Chan: a drawing of an opening sketchbook, with the title falling through the pages, on brown kraft paper. Around the spine is a strip of neon yellow paper, with drawings of 2 fountain pens and "observational sketches 2024-2025" written vertically in a box.
interior of the zine: a written intro & an observational sketch from a restaurant.
sketches: the back of a table at an event, various trays of food on a table
sketches: a partly drawn riso duplicator, the interior of a theater

Made a new zine "Waiting" - a selection of observational sketches from 2024-2025 drawn while trying to pass time, featuring various meals, trains, theaters, backs of tables at events, etc. Originally done with various fountain pens + inks and reproduced in riso (I tried to match the riso ink colors to the original ink colors). You can see some better quality (maybe) images on my site.

32 pages
5.5×7 in
Risograph printed with black, hunter green, + bright olive green ink

Also, for anyone interested in my riso process… I’ve put up an edited version of one of my recent monthly print process posts on my site.

other news etc ✷

Thanks to everyone who stopped by at MoCCA fest! My next shows so far will be:

  • Greenpointers Spring Market (NY) - Apr 12 (will mostly have prints here)

  • Other Islands Book Fair (NY) - Apr 25-26 (will mostly have books here)

  • Seattle Art Book Fair (WA) - May 9-10

  • Stationery Fest (NY) - Jul 30-Aug 1

  • Small Press Expo (MD) - Sep 12-13

Have heard good things about SABF + will be in Seattle for essentially the first time so excited for that.

Unfortunately though currently dealing with some possible health stuff that I suspect is from some combo of never really recovering my previous energy levels after getting covid last summer + months of work crunch made worse by the long hours working MoCCA weekend… My work is definitely not as physically demanding as, say, friends working multiple part time jobs and I’m pretty good at sticking to a sleep schedule so I thought I’d be fine but alas…

Did have to make the decision to drop a show :’( so once I’m back from SABF until July-ish I will be trying to have more work/life balance. This does mean that instead I’ll probably try to have my online store open then… (or keep an eye out for some smaller local markets)… we shall see…

Bonus… preview of some riso stickers… originally supposed to be for Stationery Fest so will be posting in full later but did a test run at MoCCA… thanks if you got a sheet :’)
