what is formyths doing

hello! here's what i made this past month + some things i did in 2020.

art ✎

an illustration, showing the dim, overgrown interior of a train car. tall windows stretch out over an evening sky fading from orange to deep blue, a single seat & ghostly rider reflected in the glass.

maybe a little farther

sketch where i clearly did not remember what the inside of a train looked like + lineart where i spent 1000 years drawing all the plants you mostly cannot see in the final

a loose sketch of a person sitting in the front seat of a train car lineart of the previous illustration

five small studies of different scenes, featuring bright colors & lighting. text at the bottom reads: photo credits clockwise from top L: streetview, alexander popov, derek beck, jenn ravenna tran, hendrik morkel

some photo studies / coloring experiments

a 9 by 9 grid of various illustrations i made in 2020, showing a range of subjects and dark, glowing colors

my favorite 9 pieces from 2020! got really into dark colors and gradients this year apparently.

year in review ✷

  • put on a small show (way back in january...) with friends jackie chou (thanks for the pics) + maddy cha! goodbye to the year of the rats 🐀
  • george batchelor released bird alone - i worked on concept art for this game + a cover for the soundtrack by eli rainsberry!
  • my short comic "interim" came out as part of shortbox #12! thanks to zainab akhtar for the opportunity + working with me on this. you can get copies through the shortbox site or your local indie comics shop
  • listened to an excessive amount of hiperson / 海朋森 & rina sawayama
  • i'm sure i did some other things but it's been a long year

wishing you all the best in the new year!
