what is formyths doing

not a lot of personal work but a lot of projects finally out in the wild:

art ✎

a comet sweeps over scattered flames, suspended between a starry night sky & a nervous system. symbols of omens frame the scene.

formyths-illotapes-web-txt2.jpg

cover for an illotapes mix! about strange late night feelings, you can read an interview i did with them + listen to the mix here.

2022 tour poster for the mountain goats: a figure exits a shadowy stairwell, their defeated enemy just visible in the shadows on the landing below. "the mountain goats 2022" in red-orange text and tour dates are below.

tour poster for the mountain goats' most recent us tour for bleed out! tmg has gotten me through many late nights, and i was really excited i got to combine that with one of my other interests (films about guys beating each other up). not sure if? when? they'll be on their online store but if you saw them on this tour i hope you looked at the merch table for me.

wraparound cover for "The Circle That Fits" by Kevin Lighty, showing an overhead view of a traveling fair with tents & rides glowing in the dark.

an overhead view of an empty fairground at night, tents & rides still glowing, and an equally empty parking lot to the left disappearing into the darkness

book cover 1 for "the circle that fits" by kevin lighty, via driftwood press. final cover design by sally franckowiak + james mcnulty, + the original art since i like it a lot.

book cover for Phalaina, by Alice Brière-Haquet translated by Emma Ramadan. a moth unfurls wings in darkness behind a gnarled tree, eyespots matching glowing red eyes above. icons of the natural world & scientific study frame the piece.

book cover 2 for the english version of "phalaina" by alice brière-haquet + translated by emma ramadan, via levine querido. design is by richard oriolo.

a grayscale illustration: surrounded by smoke & rubble, a woman in a parka walks away into her own silhouette

my illustration for "the black hole of beaumort" by karin lowachee, part of horror anthology death in the mouth edited by sloane leong + cassie hart. digital editions are out now + you can check out virtual book tour events here.

an inkling, an octoling, and a jellyfish sit among flowers and fallen stones in a ruined underground bypass, light spilling in from a broken ceiling held up by vast pillars

also in an unfortunate development for my eyes and hands i've fallen completely into splatoon 3. please do not expect any more personal work from me for the rest of the year between this and work/comics/life sorry

a color pencil sketch of shallow goblet displaying food, and then a person half-submerged in waves, looking away into the dark, over a photo of the sun low over the ocean "dreams of what you can prepare" under a sketch of text bubbles, 4 figures arranged around a fire, shadows stretching out, and a key, over a blurry photo of trees on a hillside
"dreams of amnesia" under a sketch of a covered body on a dias, and a ghostly figure sitting up in the air above "dreams of trials" under a sketch of a person emerging from a mirror, and a figure standing behind a curtain

some more dreams. standard disclaimer: full sets on patreon for $1 monthly, or you can wait indefinitely until i get around to setting up alternative subscription support options / put together a digital zine of them which will honestly probably come first. also did a mini half-year print zine edition for an event i tabled at in september, so thanks if you stopped by and bought one.

other stuff ✷

cover for "everything you will forget" in starry white lettering, over a grayscale hillside with a ghost floating through the fog near the bottom. a comic page: a hillside flickers through 6 panels, and small insets show a knife over "the last thing you said" and sap dripping over "stems crushed beneath your cheek, smelling sharp and strange."

my comic "everything you will forget" is out now! a little experiment about time + hauntings + landscapes. you can buy it on the shortbox comics fair site through oct 31. (after i'll have it on my personal storefront + also have some free copies available.) make sure you check out all the other artists + comics too!

ok going back to thinking about splatoon, thanks for getting through everything
