what is formyths doing

hello! another short (and late.....) one.

art ✎

looking down a series of greco-roman-inspired marble halls, waves crashing in the furthest doorways and spilling down to white foam in the foreground.

fan art for piranesi, by susanna clarke, + a mock book cover:

an archway crowned with three horned beasts rises from billowing clouds in a red sky, the space within it darkened. a twisting, thorny border frames the piece, and in the lower left corner an oval mirror hangs over island-like rocks, one eye visible through gleaming darkness.

gate - failed inking test for something that i liked enough to color

other stuff ✷

thanks to everyone who stopped by at MICE!

last minute but (assuming the rain holds up) i'll be at a little art pop-up on sunday, oct 15 from 11-7pm at tong (321 starr st brooklyn). stop by if you're in the area!

rolls of washi tape, with a stylized design of skin lifting away to reveal tissue, gold foil blood vessels, organs, and bones

the untrusting lover steals a glimpse through closed doors: gleaming scales, painted skin, a fox's coat, aged white bones

made a gold foil washi tape design 'unveil' for the washi station's latest collection! very loosely inspired by the many chinese stories of suspiciously alluring people who turn out to be shapeshifted animal spirits, ghosts, demons, etc.

this may look like another excuse for me to draw vaguely organic patterns without having to reference actual anatomical material but i did speed read several translations of zhiguai/chuanqi collections on archive dot org for this

thanks as always for sticking around,
