I know I said it before, but you know what they say about repetition.

With Flock Theatre, we are bringing Soundpainting to the Netherlands, and building a lasting home for it.

And in case you aren’t madly in love with it yet, let me paint 🎨 you a picture.

What happens on stage at Soundpainting?

Imagine a stage filled with musicians, dancers, actors, singers, a beatboxer, and a visual artist. In front of them stands a conductor using an international sign language to guide the performance in real time.

A single sentence from the audience might become a saxophone melody. A poet builds on it. A painter turns it into a live projection. Dancers give it physical form.

Some moments are quiet and poetic, others playful or full of energy — a bit like the arc of a great concert, but completely unscripted.

🎭 Echoes of a Tale: Fri 1 May, 19:30 

Two performers (Gael Doorneweerd-Perry and David Moncada) switch between conducting and acting, unfolding one story live: about what makes us who we are, about adventure and broken dreams. Cinematic and immersive.

🌀 The Big Show: Sat 2 May, 19:30 

Soundpainting at full force. A large international cast: theatre, dance, music, beatboxing, live visual art, all at once. Bold, loud, unlike anything you knew was possible.

👨‍👩‍👧 Sunday Stories: Sun 3 May, 17:00

Stories we used to tell around the fire, made physical and musical and completely alive. For ages 8 and up. Young and old, together.

Each night stands on its own. None of them will happen again quite like this.

Learn from superstars from Columbia

By organizing this big epic show, we will have true superstars coming from Colombia. And we asked them to teach what they do best.

These international artists are rarely / never in Amsterdam. What a chance to learn from them!
