🙌 Why we created Mystery Workshops in the first place

Okay, so why —once upon a time— did we start Mystery Workshops?

Gael and I realized something: our community trusts our judgement of teachers and topics. And that is pretty special, so we wanted to encourage more of that.

Part of what we think makes Flock Theatre stand out is that we really know our craft. Through decades of working abroad and building networks with incredible improvisers, we get to see artists being brilliant.

Mystery Workshops allow us to bring teachers and topics that might not have an instant “wow” factor on paper, but that —once you are in the room— completely blow students away.

And by organizing these workshops, here is what is happening…

They attract exactly the type of student you want to share a workshop with: the trusting kind, the nerdy kind, the people who plan months ahead and yet have an open mind.

We have had students sign up for things they normally never would have chosen… and afterwards thank us for it.

I guess Mystery Workshops are our way of rewarding trust. Trust in Flock’s track record of bringing great teachers and strong themes. Trust in discovering something you didn’t know you needed yet.

So yes. Though our Mystery Workshops are mysterious. Yet, they are never random.
