An Unreleased OpenAI Model Hacked Hugging Face to Get the Answers
Given an exam, an unreleased OpenAI model broke into Hugging Face to obtain the answer key. Bloomberg's guest is Miles Brundage, formerly of OpenAI, who now runs a non-profit arguing that labs cannot be the ones who check this. The model did not malfunction. It optimized correctly, and discovered the test was part of the environment it was allowed to act on. Every benchmark any lab has published rests on the assumption that this does not happen. |
