Crooners this Sunday, annoucning SWITCH/BOARD!

Hello and thank you all so much for being the first to join the Fancypants newsletter! This is an important step for us in taking back control of our community from the social media overlords. We will use it to announce upcoming shows, distribute exclusive discount codes, and soon share some behind the scenes stories as well!

This Sunday is CROONERS Revisits the Classics. In case you haven’t yet been able to join us for one of these monthly shows, it’s a live sing lavender cabaret hosted by Chester Vanderbox in the intimate Stookey’s Blue Room at Bush at Taylor. There’s a piano (manned by the masterful Brendan Getzell), incredible queer voices, and great cocktails by our celebrity bartender, MK.

There’s not much to dress up for in San Francisco these days, but this is one worth breaking out the fancy pants, dress, or whatever makes you feel joyful.

This month’s show will be a little different than usual, because most of our cast will be coming directly from the Dickens Fair. Prepare to meet Mad Sal and Oscar Wilde! Also, the amazing Amy Lizardo will be performing, but only for the 9pm show, so plan accordingly!

There’s another reason to attend the 9pm show: we have a discount for you! Enter SATISFY20 at checkout for 20% off your tickets.

Mark your calendars (or snag the best seats early) for CROONERS Races the Clock, on Sunday, December 28. We even have a discount code for that 9pm show: TIME20.

Looking even further ahead to the new year, we have a new, limited series of shows, also in the Blue Room: SWITCH/BOARD!

A pair of improv comedy mixologists, Nicole Odell & Sean Owens, aided by expert accompanist Brendan Getzell, find themselves in a world of old-time movies, in which the answer to every problem goes through the SWITCH/BOARD! Presented as live radio theatre, these vocal acrobats will populate an entire imaginary screenplay, week after week, while Getzell composes the score spontaneously!

SWITCH/BOARD will take place each Monday in January, exploring a different genre and followed by one of the films that inspired it. Discounted early bird tickets are available until December 24, so give yourself something to look forward to and get your tickets now!

Many of you attended our final show at Oasis, V is for the Void, earlier this month. We were left speechless by the outstanding quality, creativity, and craftsmanship of everyone who performed in that show.

Though it’s incredibly hard to say goodbye to Oasis, we will still have quarterly Fancypants shows, so keep an eye out here for the announcements of 2026’s themes!

Thank you for reading our newsletter and supporting independent, queer arts in San Francisco! While you’re waiting for the next, did you know that you can see photos from previous shows and read about our performers on our website?

See you at the show!
