It's Worse Than That! Vol. 3 - Launches June 24th
It's Worse Than That! Vol. 3 launches June 24th. It doesn't replace what you already know. It sharpens it.
Inside this volume:
a spread about how to use Safety Tools as a calibration system to make things the right kind of worse.
4 spreads about tools used before, during, and after play
exercises you can use and reuse, honing your ability to escalate pressure
Try this one yourself:
Mothership: Decompression Protocol
Theme: Record or Silence
The Kerrigan's medical wing is intact and sealed from the inside. The crew pulled the ship's logs two hours ago: Dr. Osei initiated decompression protocol when the infection reached the third researcher. Her own biosigns were still registering when she did it. Her personal logs have been transmitting on loop ever since, low signal, just enough to reach the corridor outside. The suits confirm the wing is safe to enter now.
Before the session, one player sets a Veil on the logs played in full: what Dr. Osei recorded in her final hours exists in the fiction, but the GM summarizes rather than performs it. Another sets a Line on the infection as spectacle: whatever happened to the researchers is tragic. It does not get described as grotesque.
The crew reaches the med bay door. The handle turns from the inside. How do you convey what the logs contain without performing them? How does the Line shape what's waiting on the other side of that door?
The zine will be $3 on its own, less if you already own Vol. 1 or Vol. 2. You can also buy all three in a bundle for $5. I wrote an itch devlog about using them together to get even more value at the table.
I'm stoked to have IWTT! ready to launch. Mark your calendar, and follow me on itch so you don't miss it. If you know a GM who'd get something out of this, send it their way.
Next week, I have more to share about Fell Beasts & Foul Lairs and Beneath Ahknoor.
