Essays of Otto for March 16, 2021 - Opa and the A-Team
One of the reasons the 2020s is such an awful time to be a kid is because there are too many television shows.
More specifically, as a kid today, there are too many television shows aimed directly at you and too many different gizmos and gadgets for watching them on, the second you want to watch them.
In other words, you never have to make do—you know, just watch something because it’s the only thing on, or because a relative with more seniority has gotten to choose.
This week’s essay touches on the bonding that this situation sometimes led to in the old one-screen households, back in the days before streaming.
Sort of. Then it takes a serious left turn, but I don’t want to spoil the ending.
Here’s the essay. Thanks for reading!
Cheers,
-Otto
