¡Hola! Cuánto tiempo, ¿eh?
Desde el anterior boletín han pasado muchas cosas: Erica a diario salió a la venta, lo presenté en Barcelona, participé en el Graf y saqué fanzines y postales nuevas a la venta. Entre medias, también hubo mucho enviar emails, buscar trabajo, redactar presupuestos y todas esas tareas poco glamurosas que le roban demasiadas horas a los días. Pero no te escribo para ponerte al corriente de mi vida (aunque un poco también), si no para contarte que esta semana me voy de tour promocional con Erica a diario, así que si me lees desde Valencia, Madrid o Zaragoza ¡nos vemos enseguida!

Hola! Long time no see, right?
Since the last newsletter, a lot has happened: Erica Every Day was released, I did a book launch in Barcelona, I took part in Graf, and I released new fanzines and postcards. In between, there was also a lot of emailing, job hunting, drafting quotes, and all those not-so-glamorous tasks that end up taking far too many hours out of the day. But I’m not writing just to catch you up on my life (though, a little bit as well), but to tell you that this week I’m going on a promotional tour with Erica Every Day, so if you’re reading me from Valencia, Madrid, or Zaragoza—see you very soon!

Presentaciones de Erica a diario

El 10 de abril presenté Erica a diario en mi librería favorita de Barcelona, Terranova, acompañada de mi amiga Alba G. Mora. Todos los miedos que tenía (no va a venir nadie, voy a quedarme en blanco, ¿a quién va a interesarle oírme hablar durante una hora?) se esfumaron apenas empezamos a hablar. Pasé un rato muy divertido hablando con Alba sobre fanzines, fotografía y no tener padres ricos; la gente se rió, hice fotos, firmé algunos libros y, al acabar el día decidí que sí, que haría más presentaciones.
Siendo una persona que habitualmente cuenta su vida en internet igual queda raro decir que me siento incómoda con esta parte; aunque no lo parezca, ¡soy bastante vergonzosa! Pero por mucho apuro que me de, soy consciente de que promocionar el libro es importante para que llegue a más gente... y en realidad me encanta hablar de creatividad, fotografía y dibujo, así que supongo que será cuestión de acostumbrarse a hablar de todo esto cara a cara y no solo a través de mi blog.

Erica Every Day on tour
On April 10th, I presented Erica Every Day at my favorite bookstore in Barcelona, Terranova, together with my friend Alba G. Mora. All the fears I had (no one will show up, I’ll go blank, who would even be interested in listening to me talk for an hour?) disappeared as soon as we started talking. I had a really fun time chatting with Alba about zines, photography, and not having wealthy parents; people laughed, I took photos, signed a few books, and by the end of the day I decided that yes, I would do more presentations.
As someone who usually shares her life online, it might seem strange to say that I feel uncomfortable with this part; even if it doesn’t seem like it, I’m actually quite shy! Still, as awkward as it can feel, I know that promoting the book is important so it can reach more people… and I really do love talking about creativity, photography, and drawing, so I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to talking about all this face to face and not only through my blog.

📸 Friends with cameras

Friends with Cameras es un espacio para hablar de fotografía con gente cuyas fotos me inspiran a seguir fotografiando. En marzo charlé con Nazaret Escobedo, que llenó mi blog de perritos, señoras y polaroids. Y en abril entrevisté a Laura Sauchelli, con quien hablé de sus proyectos fotográficos y de por qué sigue usando la misma cámara con la que aprendió a fotografiar.

Friends with Cameras is a space to talk about photography with people whose photos inspire me to keep taking pictures. In March, I talked to Nazaret Escobedo, who filled my blog with puppies, ladies, and Polaroids. And in April, I interviewed Laura Sauchelli, with whom I discussed her photography projects and why she still uses the same camera she learned to take pictures with.
