Record-Breaking
On the highs today.
74 degrees and sunny. I didn’t really believe it, so in the morning I put on a pair of tights and by the afternoon, regretted it.
Saw plenty of other people, too, seemingly caught in the same predicament. Sweater sleeves bunched up past their elbows, jackets tossed aside. Piles of melting snow, still hanging on at the street corners and in the shadows, already felt like a distant memory.
Are you loving this? I asked the kid working the window at the sandwich truck. Behind me, the line stretched across the park—everyone, everyone emerging from wherever winter kept us hidden.
Bro, he was laughing at the crowd, which seemed to grow each time you looked away and back. I’ll take everything I can get.
