Six Low Cost Measures to Save on Energy at Home

Hi,

As we move towards the colder months, first this month we cover 6 low cost energy saving measures you can install in your home to reduce energy and save - from draught excluders, to LED light bulbs, to water saving shower heads - read in full here.

This is especially important right now, since energy prices show no sign of going down in the short term: the latest price cap rising by 2% (around £35 a year for a typical household) from 1 October.

The energy saving measures above can limit the impact of the price cap rise, but also switching to a fixed tariff may help, if lower than the current rate you are paying, or projected increases next year.

As a reminder, if you need help with this, or any other support with your bills, Selce is here for you - whether by phone, 1:1 appointment or one of our local energy cafes - full details here.

On that note, we now have energy cafes at the following times and locations - please always bring an energy bill along with you:

Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm
& Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2pm to 5pm

Every last Wednesday of the month, 10am-12pm

Salvation Army Catford, 23-25 Brownhill Rd, London, SE6 2HE

Every Friday, 10 am to 12 pm [in English, Spanish/Español & Portuguese/Português]

Christchurch Anerley Foodbank, 197 Anerley Road, London, SE20 8ER

17th October, 21st November, 12th December, 16th January, 9.45am to 11.45am

We also run pop-up energy cafes at events, community groups and advice hubs. If you would like to have an advisor come to your group please contact Michael.

Finally, for anyone who might be interested, Selce’s 4th solar share offer just went live - funding solar power for Invicta Primary School in Blackheath - if successful, we will reduce costs for the school £100,000 over 20 years.

See you soon,

The Selce Team.
