RTS Switch Off Update, Keep Cool Advice, Energy Advice Draw, Price Cap Update
Good afternoon,
We hope you are managing to stay comfortable in the heat.
On that note, in this month’s Energy Advice Bulletin, we have some new resources and information on staying cool in the heat, a short update on RTS meters, details of a prize draw for clients seeking energy advice in July and more.
Please do share with friends, family or colleagues who might also find this useful.

Energy Price Cap Update
The Energy Price Cap fell by 7% on 1 July, to £1,720 per year for a typical dual-fuel household paying by Direct Debit.
You can read predictions on the next quarterly updates for the price cap here.
Radio teleswitch service (RTS) Meters Switchoff - An Important Update
While the overall RTS meter switch-off has been delayed, over the course of July, the signal will still be switched off in some limited areas.
It is still essential that anyone with an RTS meter speaks to their supplier to get it changed.

Staying Cool in the Heat
We previously shared some basic tips to stay cooler in summer - the second part of the article includes advice on things you can install and what to do if someone suffers heat exhaustion.
The Centre for Sustainable Energy also has 13 ways to stay cooler in hot weather -
“The average fan uses less than 100 watts of energy so costs around 3p per hour.”
“If you’re using fans at night or during the day, put them by a window facing inwards so that they suck in cooler air (provided outside is cooler) and distribute it into the room.”
Finally, the UK Heatwave Toolkit provides a lot of useful, practical advice:
Is the sun beaming through your windows? Shade them from the outside. This will prevent heat from direct sun from entering the property and is far more effective than just closing internal blinds or curtains.
Europeans regularly employ products such as external roller shutter blinds and awnings, but these are currently much less common in the UK. The same effect can be achieved with less intervention on a more temporary basis.
Cover windows and roof lights with old towels, curtains, bed sheets or bamboo screening to shade glazing. These are temporary but very effective measures - give it a try before you invest in something properly designed for the job!
