OFGEM Rise in Energy Price Cap

On the 25th of February 2025, the energy regulator OFGEM announced a 6.4% increase of the energy price cap for the period covering April to June 2025.  Rates are currently not predicted to go down.

For consumers, a move to a fixed tariff is advisable before this change starts on April 1st as this can avoid the increased rate.

Please see this link to compare tariffs & to find out more visit the OFGEM website.

Radio Teleswitch (RTS) Meters being switched off June 30th 2025

RTS meters are an aging technology that use a radio signal to switch between peak and off-peak rates for households that use electricity for heating and hot water. This technology is being phased out due to its age. This is what an RTS meter looks like:

A letter should be sent out to you by your supplier if you have an RTS meter, and they will offer an upgrade. If you have not received a letter and think you have an RTS meter, get in touch with your energy supplier to arrange an upgrade.

Not making a switch by the 30th of June could result in a loss of heating and/or hot water control, inaccurate or sustained on-peak pricing, and a lead to potentially higher bills.

We’re Giving Away Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms

CO is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas that can be produced by faulty or poorly maintained gas appliances, such as boilers, cookers and fires.

CO leaks cause 4,000 people in the UK to be hospitalised each year. It’s crucial that every household has functioning CO alarms to avoid illness or death.

If you experience any of the following symptoms of CO poisoning it is important to open windows and doors and leave the house immediately.

Once outside, dial NHS 111 line for medical guidance, or 999 if it is an emergency.

And, ring the free National Gas Helpline on 0800 111 999.

If you have an old or broken CO monitor, we are giving them away for free across SE London. Join us to collect yours and to sign up for an energy advice home visit on:
