Emmett Weekly — September 26, 2026
Gooding football win, high-school dome feedback, SH-16 overnight delays, Harvest Festival details, and fall sports.
Good morning, Emmett. Here's what happened around town this week.
CITY & COUNTY
No new City or Gem County decision was available in the sources checked this week. The City of Emmett has posted a Sept. 22 Council agenda and packet, but meeting minutes and vote details were not posted yet.
SCHOOLS
The Emmett School District opened a new feedback process Monday for the future of the high-school domes. Residents can share ideas, say how they would like to be involved and ask to be considered for the Community Outreach Committee. The board created that committee after the Sept. 8 public forum; it still has not chosen between repairing the domes and pursuing a new school, and no bond decision has been made.
DEVELOPMENT
Drivers should plan for overnight work on State Highway 16 near Emmett Tuesday, Sept. 29. Between Deep Canyon Drive and Valnova Drive, traffic will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., with brief stops of up to 30 minutes while crews place six bridge girders for the future overpass. ITD advises using another route if possible and following flaggers through the work zone.
COMMUNITY
Emmett's 33rd Harvest Festival Street Fair is Friday and Saturday on Main Street. New details from organizers include about 70 vendors and a visit from Idaho's Liberty Bell, expected Friday between roughly 5 and 5:45 p.m.; the arrival time could shift depending on the bell's earlier stops. The festival runs noon to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Western Livestock Exchange announced its opening sale for Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at 1611 W. Sales Yard Road in Emmett.
