I’m starting a new project called Tiny Interpreters.

It’s about learning how programming languages work by building tiny interpreters, one language feature at a time. The first series will use Elm, so I thought it might interest readers of this newsletter.

Tiny Interpreters grew out of my own attempts to learn programming language design. What finally worked for me was building small, complete interpreters instead of trying to understand an entire compiler at once. I’m turning that approach into a series of carefully paced articles that follow each feature from what it means through its syntax, parser, evaluator, errors, and tests.

The first technical article will be published on Monday, August 3.
