One of the things I’ve most enjoyed about the lead up to Unconfined, is the opportunity to speak with so many members and prospective members at fan tables. It's been particularly interesting to talk to fans from all over the world, and to hear from them how excited they are to come to our convention in Glasgow. many are looking forward to hearing from our wonderful Guests of Honour, many have fond memories of the Eastercons and Worldcons hosted in Glasgow the past — and just as many are looking forward to coming here for the first time.
We look forward to showing everyone a warm Glasgow welcome. Though we're definitely not predicting what the weather will be!
The convention is shaping up very nicely now. We're a little over five months out, and many elements are falling into place. We're happy to make two major announcements this month, but that's certainly not the end of it.
There is much more coming! And we're looking forward to telling you all about it in future newsletters.

Hotel Bookings are now open!
We’re delighted to announce that hotel bookings are now available to all members of the convention tomorrow.
We have rooms in the convention hotel itself, plus other hotels nearby on the Scottish Exhibition Centre Plaza.
To access the booking links, log into the convention registration system and once logged in, look for the menu at the top right of the screen, indicated by three blue horizontal lines. Click this and it will drop down a menu. The hotel booking page is listed in this menu.
Please don’t tell anyone about the links. They are for members of the convention only.
The Crowne Plaza
Rates for the Crowne Plaza are as follows:
£145 per night for a single occupancy room
£170 per night for a double occupancy room
Both rates include a full Scottish Breakfast for one or for two (including mushrooms, of course!)
For the Crowne Plaza, please note that bookings made through the payment links are subject to a first night non-refundable deposit, which will be charged to the card on file after the reservation is made. This is also highlighted in the 'Deposit and Cancellation Policy' section of the booking form. The card used to guarantee the reservation will be charged for the first night deposit once the booking is received.

We expect rooms to fill up fast!
Access Fund — applications open
We’re also happy to announce that applications for Unconfined’s Access Fund are now open. This fund, created by the generous donations from our members and from past conventions, provides grants to aid people who would otherwise face a significant barrier in attending Unconfined, or would be unable to attend.
We are offering two levels of support:
Our local access grants (£200) are intended for members who live in the greater Glasgow area and do not expect to stay on-site during the convention.
Our further access grants (£500) are intended for members who live outside the greater Glasgow area, and therefore will need to pay for long-distance transport and a hotel room.
Each grant includes a free membership to Unconfined (or a refund of our reduced-rate adult membership if already purchased) and an additional payment, given in cash at the convention.
While we would love to support everyone, with limited funds we cannot guarantee support. We will let our applicants know by 15th January 2027 if we are able to fund them. If you are not selected for the first round of funding, we will keep your name for further consideration if we raise additional funding.

Membership Rates rise soon
Our membership rates will rise on the 1st December. If you haven’t bought a membership, now is the perfect time to do so. If you have — tell your friends they need to join.
The new rates will be as follows:
Adult — £135
Discounted Adult — £90
Young adult — £35
Child — £15
Online — £45
Discounted Online — £30

Newsletter Admin
When you join Unconfined, you choose to have sent to you all communications or essential updates only. We will send out each Progress Report (maximum of four before the convention) plus final details to all members. All other newsletters — around one a month — will be sent to those who have chosen to receive all communications.
If you are a member of the convention and wish to change how often you receive mail from us, please log into the registration system and update your choice.
