When we announced a couple of months ago that we’re opening a tiny used bookshop inside our store, a few people thought it was a late April Fool’s joke. But since then we’ve been slowly growing our collection, and it’s now got its own little corner of the store. We’ve got an Edwardian guide to how to write letters to your governess, a 1937 report on what seemed at the time like groundbreaking telepathy research at Duke University, a book stirringly defending the honor of noted flop president Herbert Hoover, and everything in between. And this Saturday, everything is be 15% off! I hope you’ll come by and flip through an old book or two with us. And I hope you’ll follow our Turned Page account on Instagram, where we semi-regularly post new and interesting finds!
Meanwhile, we’re still mostly a yarn store! We’ve just added a big batch of new knitting classes to the calendar:
Knitting 101 in August, September, and October: three new sessions of our popular introductory class! And psst: we’ve still got a few slots open for the June/July class starting this Sunday.
Knitting 102 (August 18, 25, and September 1): this slightly freeform course, which covers all the little tidbits we don’t get to in the 101 class, always fills quickly, so sign up soon if you want to get a seat.
Knit the Lily Top (August 20, 27, September 10, 17): this ethereal mohair top looks challenging, but it’s not so bad with a teacher like Maggie to help you through.
Knit Your First Sock (September 8, 15, and 22): if you’re interested in graduating from scarves and hats, a sock is a great step into the world of shaped garments. This class was booked solid last time we ran it so please don’t miss out!
Knit the Nantucket Sweater (September 24, October 1, 15, 22) and Knit the Autumn Pullover (September 30, October 7, 21, 28): believe it or not, it will eventually be sweater weather again, and these two knit-a-long classes will have you ready for the season.
