The Nexus of All Staircases
It’s July 26. I will miss Seattle’s mild summer nights. Here’s the Potpourri.
Doctor Depravity and the Witch’s Coin
The churning word-generator in my skull is ceaseless. The ideation part of creativity is never a problem; the fountain never lacks for water. It’s turning it into an ice goose or whatever that poses a problem.
Jurassic Park on a Thursday
Exactly as it sounds: At time of writing it is 7 a.m. on Thursday and I am watching classic good film Jurassic Park. This movie is so firmly embedded in my basal ganglia that I still check my backseat for dilophosauruses (or Newman) and I only very recently started buying a shaving cream other than Barbasol. Product placement works!
The Nexus of All Staircases
Things with my move are cohering rapidly! Picture an Escher where all the staircases magically connect, resolving all spatial paradoxes. Life, mostly an immoveable object, sometimes becomes an unstoppable force.
The Saturday Zone
I’m rediscovering a central place of enjoyment and ease within myself that I’m calling the Saturday Zone, or the Mustache Dimension. Healing from several forms of lifelong pain and illness has made it possible for me to rediscover pleasure, which of course was there all along and really makes the whole shebang worth it—especially in conjunction with spending time with people you love.
Ncuti Gatwa
Gatwa is the latest actor to take on the lead role in Doctor Who, and he’s fantastic. I am not a Whovian, but Leonora introduced me to the current season and I’m having a ball.
