Nota Bene (not a bean)
It's March 22. Why is March so long? I guess that's nominative determinism. Anyway, here's a floral mix of different odds and ends from your friend Mr. Marzipan.
If You Build It
Field of Dreams made the phrase "If you build it, they will come" a popular saying. However, we should keep in mind that "they" in this context is ghosts. If you build it, you'll get ghosts.

This is a prosaic way of saying I went into the office this week.
"Pointless Camera Hooliganism"
Sergei Eisenstein of Battleship Potemkin fame is reported to have said this about Dziga Vertov's Man with a Movie Camera, which I find very funny. I still need to acquaint myself with Eisenstein—I've just seen clips from Potemkin—but this makes him sound a bit catty.
Stefan Milo
This might conjure for some of you a nightmarish alt-right chimera, but I assure you it's the online handle of Stefan Milosavljevich, who runs an entertaining, well-researched, and easy-to-understand YouTube channel about archaeology and anthropology. I appreciate his emphasis on scientific process and embracing the empirical mysteries of humanity's origins rather than conspiracy theories. This video about the possibility that ancient Polynesians reached the shores of the American continent is a recent favorite.
How Are You?
Seriously, how are you? I want to know. As we move into spring, I am keeping warmth in my heart for the people who people my life.
