Django on the Med is back!

Hi everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹

Weโ€™re happy to share the first details for the next edition of Django on the Med ๐Ÿ–๏ธ, which will take place from September 23 to 25, 2026 in Pescara, Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Django on the Med ๐Ÿ–๏ธ is a small, focused sprint event. Three days to get together on work on Django.

Itโ€™s a unique opportunity to make progress on tough issues in the core framework and ecosystem:

Mariusz Felisiak: "Django 6.1 will support database-level delete optโ€ฆ" - Fosstodon

Django 6.1 will support database-level delete options for related fields ๐Ÿš€ The database variants are much more efficient because they avoid fetching related objects โšก This is a great win for Django on the Med ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Let's dance ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ #DjangoOnTheMed #django #python https://github.com/django/django/pull/19925

Participation is
free, and we expect to host around 20 to 30 people. We are still
finalizing details, but early registration will be important.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Registration is open on

Event list :: Django on the Med

Tickets are free, and on a first come, first served basis, but please only book when youโ€™re sure about being able to attend ๐Ÿค—

How to get to Pescara

โœˆ๏ธ By plane

Pescara (Abruzzo Airport) has direct connections with several European
countries such as Albania, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Malta,
Poland, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom, with some seasonal variations.
From outside Europe, the easiest options are flying to Rome and taking
a direct bus from Fiumicino airport, or flying to Milan and continuing
by domestic flight or train.

๐Ÿš† By train
Pescara is well connected with fast trains to Bologna, Milan, Turin,
Venice, Bari, Lecce, and Bolzano, as well as direct routes from Rome.
From abroad, you can directly reach Milan or Bologna by train from
countries like France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany then continue to
Pescara.
There is also a historic railway between Rome and Pescara, slower but
very scenic through the mountains.

๐ŸšŒ By bus
There are frequent long-distance bus connections, including direct
routes from Rome and Fiumicino airport, as well as other Italian
cities.

๐Ÿš— By car
Pescara is easy to reach via the highway network, including a direct
motorway to Rome. Renting a car can also be a good option to explore
the area.
