My thoughts
I don’t currently have Netflix, but the trailer for “My Dad the Bounty Hunter” caught my attention: two kids find out their seemingly ordinary father is actually an interstellar bounty hunter.
On Disney+, timed for Black History Month, the streaming service is launching another season of its “Proud Family” reboot, as well as new series “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.” Also debuting is the hit film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
The second episode of the shortened third and final season of “The Owl House” also debuts on Disney+ this month. That said, the episode actually made its debut in late January on Disney Channel’s YouTube channel.
Sports stuff
In sports, the most-watched TV broadcast of the year in the United States, the Super Bowl, is set for February 12. This year’s halftime show features R&B singer Rihanna. As usual, I’ll have my now-annual roundup post on my thoughts about the broadcast: i.e. the commercials, halftime show, and possibly even the game itself. Last year, we got cryptocurrency ads en masse, in a clear last-ditch attempt to sucker more people. Given how 2022 fared for cryptocurrency, I assume we’ll be spared such a push this year.
Outside of football, the NHL All-Star game is set for February 4, taking place this year in Florida. There’s also the NBA’s All-Star game on February 19, but you’ll need cable (or a cable replacement streaming service) to watch it, as it’s on TNT. The game this year takes place in Salt Lake City.
