I’ve been working on a piece called “A Path Forward for Gen Z”, and it’s finally ready for release. This mini book collects a lot of what I’ve been thinking about on how my generation can move forward, despite all the challenges we face. After reading so many negative, depressing articles on Gen Z’s flaws and problems, I hoped to put out something a little different, something that gives you a more hopeful view.

Even if you aren’t part of Gen Z, I hope you find something useful in the book. It puts together a lot of connections I made between Gen Z’s unique traits and similar qualities in past generations that changed society. Once I started seeing those parallels, I began to realize we shouldn’t write off Gen Z so quickly.

Believe it or not, the generation living in the 1960’s (which ended up having many revolutionary musicians, such as Bob Dylan, Richie Havens, Odetta, and Jimi Hendrix) was written off, too. The mainstream press derided the rock n’ roll generation as “draft dodgers” and “radical hippies”. But this was a generation that challenged the norms of the society around them, and their impact is still felt today through their music and movements. That was a generation of questioners and people who thought outside the box, and I see some of those traits in Gen Z, too.

That’s just one of the things I’ve been exploring in “A Path Forward for Gen Z”. There are also some practical tips on how to deal with our generation’s unique challenges, such as addictive technologies and our fear of taking risks in life.
