10.000

My YouTube channel just passed 10,000 subscribers.

A lot of you reading this found me through those videos. So this one is a thank you, and the story of how it all started.

Early 2025 I was building small tools for Power Apps, mostly to fix things that annoyed me in my own workflow. Things like a logo generator for my apps.

And one of those tools was PowerIcons.

Around the same time I was reading an e-book about indie hacking. People building startups completely solo, just a laptop and a skill they're good at. That idea kind of stuck with me.

So I gave it a shot. I recorded a video explaining PowerIcons, uploaded it to YouTube, linked it on the landing page, and posted the whole thing on Reddit.

I was kinda nervous. I thought things like: Is this even good enough? Would people care, or laugh at it?

The response was better than anything I imagined. The community mod even pinned PowerIcons to the sidebar of the subreddit.

Providing something people can actually use felt awesome. That feeling is basically the reason PowerLibs exists today.

That PowerIcons video is still the first video on the channel. I kept recording. The second one got a few views. The third one blew my mind: it's at 120k+ views today.

In the first days after that upload, my inbox was full of messages from the Power Platform community. Some of you probably sent one of them.

What's next

Between PowerLibs and my 9-5, uploading consistently is the hardest part. Scripting, filming and editing just eat a lot of time. Other than that, I also got married this year and moved to a new flat, so there was a lot going on.

But when it comes to videos, the editing part is where it gets interesting. I started cutting skateboarding videos when I was 15 and did videography stuff for over a decade after that. Now DaVinci Resolve supports MCP, which means I can start teaching those editing skills to AI.

If that works, it means more videos. I really hope it works out as I imagine it. I have a lot of video ideas in the pipeline, waiting to be recorded!

One ask

Hit reply and tell me how you found me. Was it Reddit? A video? PowerIcons or PowerLibs? I read every reply, and I'm genuinely curious which path brought you here.

Thanks for being part of the first 10k!

Cheers,

Dennis
