Real quick - the History I wrote about last week is now available on the site. You will see a new History menu item on the left for your Club. Go there and add a series and you can capture the history of past contests and events right there. For my Baltimore group, I created a series for our annual winter poker tournament and also our fantasy football league, both going back over a dozen years.

Next, I have started work on parimutuel contests - the betting structure used for horse racing. It’s a great way for groups to do betting on things like the World Cup. Just list all the entries, and let people wager what they want on the “horse” they want to back. The odds and payouts sort themselves out as the picks come in. And just like horse racing, you can have separate pools for win, place, and show.

As for the stable mucking mentioned in the title - this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. Like many software projects, I use the Jira ticketing system to track work for Degen.club, and the “epic” I created for parimutuel contests is #17 - right at the start of the project. To give you an idea of what else is there, #16 was “tournament auction” and that has been available now for two years.

So this work has been sitting there for me to do for some time now, and I have picked up the rake to start cleaning up.

This really should add a whole new set of contests to the site and I am looking forward to doing this work.
