Postkort fra 2047: The Composter That Chose Me

The Composter That Chose Me

Kære Alma

Something insane happened. You know the compost robots at school, the flat grey ones that look like footstools? One of them has decided I am its person.

It started Tuesday. I dropped half a banana in its tray and said tak, because you should be polite, and now it FOLLOWS ME. Not in a scary way. In an embarrassing way. It waits outside Danish. It parked itself in the middle of the corridor and would not move until I walked past, and then it made a little noise like a fridge being pleased.

Rasmus says it is just route-learning and I am not special. But it does not follow Rasmus.

Bastian hates it. He sat in the window and stared at it in the yard for forty minutes like he was memorising its face.

Question: if a machine only likes you because you gave it a banana, is that friendship or is it a job? I have thought about this a lot and I do not know.

The sky here is grey and heavy and it will not rain. It has been not-raining for three days. Very annoying weather to be watched by a footstool in.

Oskar (og Bastian, who is furious)
