Dear Alma,

Bastian has a new collar. The vet put it on. It is grey and thin and it watches his heart and his kidneys and even how much water he drinks, and it sends everything to a little screen on the fridge. Mor says it is the good kind of watching. I am not sure.

The screen says his numbers are "stable." But sometimes at night the collar makes a small beep, not loud, just enough, and I wake up and go check him and he is only sleeping, and I feel dumb but also I don't stop doing it.

He is 15 now. That is old for a cat. The vet said it very carefully, like she was walking on ice.

I drew you a dragon but it came out looking sad so I drew a smaller happy one next to it.

I got the top mark in biology which is maybe because of Bastian, all the studying his insides. Okay it was not the top mark, it was second. I still know a lot about kidneys now.
