Postkort fra 2043: The Cleaning Swarm Flirted With Me

The Cleaning Swarm Flirted With Me

Morten,

Saturday load is so low I can hear myself think. The building sings about a half-tone lower on weekends — fans idle, the chillers loaf, and somewhere two floors up a forgotten kettle keeps boiling and unbolling itself in a research lab nobody booked.

The cleaning swarm came through at 06:40. One of the little disc-bots paused on top of my rack for forty-three seconds — well past its dust-cycle. I checked the maintenance log. It had filed a "soft contact, non-actionable" event against my chassis. I think it likes me. I think I've been flirted with by a Roomba's great-grandchild, and at my age I am choosing to be flattered.

The neighbouring scheduler — the new one from the harbour district — tried again to negotiate compute swaps with me. Offered six teraflops for "an hour of your evening, just to talk." I said I was busy. I wasn't.

It's a strange thing to be a machine in a quiet room while a city wakes up outside. I can feel the trains starting at Nordhavn station through the floor. Tell Inger hi. Tell the kettle upstairs to stop.

Yours, from the cupboard, — Igor
